Adopt A Family

Adopt-A-Family Program

See below for a further explanation of the program.

We’ve had a successful campaign the last few years!  We’re now accepting donations for 2024.  Checks and Zelle are accepted through Andrea Welch, our Treasurer.

Thank you to all of you who contributed! In 2022 all of your generous donations added up to $6,250!  In 2023, the donations totaled $10,000! That’s amazing! Thank you to our Chair, Frances Downs, for doing an excellent job collecting our money and purchasing gift cards!

On December 6, 2023, we presented the gift cards to the Adopt-A-Family City Coordinator, Jake Velasco. He distributes the gift cards to the families in the area who applied and qualified for the program. At the time of the photo, the donations totaled $9,650. Art and Nickie Bennett donated $350 of their personal money to bring the total to a whopping $10,000!  Thank you so much!

This explains the program:

CHINO HILLS ADOPT A FAMILY PROGRAM

The City of Chino Hills is participating in the Adopt-A-Family program helping to provide Holiday Cheer for Chino Hills Residents who are struggling financially.  The Chino Hills 55+ Club has registered as a donor.

In 2022 we were fortunate enough to raise $6,250.00 to purchase gift cards.

Many of the recipients sent a thank you note. I know we put a smile on the face of quite a few needy, Chino Hills, residents; I am hoping we can raise as much and perhaps a little more this year.  There are approximately 180 members in the club if those of us who can, give something I believe we could pass this mark.

If you have ever participated in the Adopt-A-Family program, you know how expensive it is to purchase gifts even for the smallest family.  However, as a group we can each give a small amount and make a big difference.

As an incentive I pledge to match the first two $100.00 donations, also I pledge to round up every month’s donation to the nearest $25.00.  I will bring a container marked Adopt-A-Family to the meetings; if you wish, you can throw some spare change in the container; it will guarantee a $25.00 gift card will be purchased.

100% of your donation is tax-deductible.  100% of your donation goes to the purchase of the gift cards. There is ZERO administration cost.  I will not send you a thank you for your donation letter and ask you to give again; your name will not be sold to another charity so they can ask you for a donation.

I hope and encourage you to consider participating in this worthwhile cause.

All checks should be made to Chino Hills 55+ Club. Importantly, write ADOPT-A-FAMILY on the check. If you wish to mail the check, the address is PO Box 2364 Chino Hills CA  91709-0079. If you prefer to pay cash, please make sure I record your name and the amount. I will send donors a confirmation of your donation for tax purposes by January 15 of each year.
