Alandra Solomon
February 4, 1951 to March 25, 2025
Alandra Elizabeth Solomon was born in Dayton, Ohio. She was the second eldest among her siblings.
At an early age, Alandra’s family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she attended Dorsey Senior High School in 1969. She later attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College where she earned an Associate of Arts Degree. In 1975 she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from California State University Los Angeles. Her work ethics and dedication were evident in her 44 years of service with the Automobile Club of Southern California. Beginning her career as a filing clerk, she steadily rose through the ranks to serve as an Analyst, embodying professionalism, loyalty, and grace in every role she held.
Horseback riding was a recreational activity and a sport to her, offering emotional, physical and even therapeutic benefits. Her horses, Sassy and Bullet, provided a peaceful escape from daily routines. Alandra had one son and a few fury pets. She will be remembered as the best “GG” in the world. She met Guy, her life partner through their mutual love of Zydeco dance and Zydeco music.
Alandra was a Chino Hills resident since 1992. Her social activities and affiliations included parishioner at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Covina, San Gabriel Bid Whist Club Member, Aerobics Instructor at Family Center (West Covina) which later became 24 Hour Fitness. She was a member of Women of the West, an auxiliary of the Buffalo Soldiers. Her Los Angeles chapter rode in an uncovered wagon in the 2020 Rose Parade along with the Buffalo Soldiers Mounted Calvary Unit. Alandra joined the Chino Hills 55+ Club in November 2023.
Travel was her passion, whether it be by land or by sea, international or domestic. A special moment for her Alandra, despite her declining health, was a recent 11-day tour to the Vatican where she saw Pope Francis, just a stone-throw away.
Her memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
