Welcome 2021! 2020 was a difficult year of transitions. We’ve made it through year one of the pandemic, something we never thought we would live through in our lifetime. It has been for many a year filled with stress, uncertainty and for some fear. It has a year filled with loss. June 2020 Inclusiveness…Create Connection! Find a cause that matters to you to create change in your community. Drive to a new area and explore. Pick someone from your family tree to research. Have a conversation with someone you don’t normally interact with at some point today. “Inclusion is the celebration of diversity put into action”  – Dr. Ilene Schwartz

July 2020 – Responsibility…Change three small things in your routine that will help the environment.  Make plans with a person (on Zoom, Face Time, etc.) that you’ve been putting off.  Remind yourself you are dong the best you can!  “The final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.” – Anne Frank

August 2020Caring…Rise by lifting up others!  Offer a lending ear to someone who is struggling. Reverse or take a different route on your daily walk.  Complete a task you’ve been putting off. Let someone merge in front of you in traffic. “Kindness is caring for others even when they may not care for you.” – RAKtivist

September 2020 – Theme: Be The Change!  Focus: Integrity…Put away your phone while in the company of others. Leave only kind comments on social media. Celebrate what 55+ Club has done as a team to help support our community. “Integrity is choosing your thoughts and actions based on values rather that personal gain.” – Chris Karcher

October 2020 – Theme: Stay Strong!  Focus: Resilience…Think about a difficult time in your life and recognize the good that came from it. Write a gratitude list. Think of three people you are grateful for and what they have done for you.  List five of your strengths. “Joy, collected over time, fuels resilience.”    – Brene Brown

November 2020 – Theme: Be Thankful!  Focus: Gratitude… Make a list of five simple pleasures for which you are grateful.  Make a list of ways you’ve impressed yourself lately.  Say thank you to someone who has a difficult job.  “Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.”   – Zig Ziglar

December 2020 – Theme: Celebrate The Little Things!  Focus: Celebration...Celebrate the things that bring happiness to your life!  Make someone smile by sharing a good joke.  Celebrate someone by sharing something about them that you appreciate. ” The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” – Oprah Winfrey

 

 

This will put a smile on your face.  He’s 94 and she’s 91.  Enjoy, and I hope you do this on New Year’s Eve. May we remain forever young!
